Crushing

While each customer uses slightly different formulas for making rabbit feed pellets, the raw materials are generally the same few categories. Regardless of the raw material, it needs to be crushed before pelleting.

Controlling the fineness of the crushed material is crucial. For raw materials like corn and soybean meal, finer crushing helps starch gelatinization, improving pellet hardness and smoothness. However, for coarse fiber raw materials like alfalfa, a suitable coarseness is necessary to better suit rabbit digestion.

Drying

To match the feeding habits of rabbits, alfalfa, peanut vines, and other forage materials are usually added to the raw materials for rabbit feed pellets. However, these materials are prone to moisture absorption, resulting in high moisture content. If the moisture content is too high, direct pelleting will cause the raw materials to become too sticky and clog the ring die, leading to rabbit feed pellet making machine malfunctions. Therefore, proper drying is necessary to bring the raw materials to the optimal state for pelleting.

RICHI’s drying machines can precisely control the drying temperature, ensuring that each piece of pulverized material is heated evenly. The moisture content of the material is controlled between 12% and 18%, which is ideal for pelleting. This results in pellets with the right consistency, reduces equipment failure rates, and ensures continuous production.

Mixing

If you want your rabbit feed pellets to be more nutritious, you can add energy sources, protein sources, vitamins, or minerals. So how can you ensure that these nutrients are evenly distributed in each pellet? The answer is to use a mixing machine.

This machine uses the high-speed rotation of an internal spiral or paddle to thoroughly mix raw materials of different densities and pellet sizes in a set ratio, ensuring that the nutrients in each pellet are evenly distributed.

Well-mixed materials will have a high degree of consistency in color, smell, and nutrition, which is the foundation for producing high-quality rabbit feed pellets. If the mixing is inadequate, rabbits may experience uneven feeding and significant differences in growth, so this step is crucial.

Cooling

After undergoing the high-temperature steam conditioning process, rabbit feed pellets typically reach a temperature between 70-80℃. This combination of high temperature and a certain amount of moisture and humidity means that to prevent mold and spoilage, it’s best not to store or transport them directly.

What should you do in this situation? You can use a pellet cooler. A pellet cooler allows the hot feed to come into contact with room-temperature air from opposite directions, resulting in a gentle yet thorough heat exchange. This rapidly reduces the temperature and moisture content of the pellets. This process preserves heat-sensitive nutrients such as probiotics and prevents the pellets from cracking due to sudden cooling, maximizing their integrity and ensuring safe storage.

Screening

Cooled feed may contain a small amount of broken pieces, resulting in uneven pellet size. Screening equipment can be used in this case. A motor drives the screen body in a reciprocating motion, allowing the finished pellets to pass sequentially through screens of different apertures. The upper screen intercepts oversized pellets, the lower screen removes fragments and fine powder, leaving only the uniformly sized, qualified finished product.

By removing damaged pellets and grouping the feed with more uniform pellet size, your products will appear more upscale to customers when sold. This also makes feeding easier for them, leading to more long-term customer relationships.

Packaging

After passing the initial filtration and screening, the qualified feed pellets are transported to the final packaging system, where a weighing and packaging machine is used. This machine is equipped with high-precision weighing sensors; you set the desired weight, and it accurately fills the bags, then seals them in one seamless process.

This not only ensures continuous operation of the entire production line and reduces manual packaging costs, but also guarantees consistent weight for every bag of feed, preventing short weights. Furthermore, the seals are airtight, effectively preventing moisture and dust. The final bagged products are neat and uniform, offering significant advantages for storage, transportation, and sales.
