Components of Sawdust Pellet Machine
Wood sawdust is light but has coarse, hard fibers. Standard pelletizing equipment on the market tends to break down when you feed it this kind of material. RICHI took a hard look at the challenges of processing sawdust and made targeted improvements. The result? A sawdust pellet maker that handles those problems smartly.
Feeding System
To ensure smooth feeding of lightweight sawdust, we installed a variable frequency anti-bridging feeder at the inlet. The feeder features a double-roller structure; the two rollers rotate in opposite directions to effectively break up clumps and bridging, resolving the arching and bridging issues during feeding.
To prevent material from failing to enter the pelleting chamber smoothly, we equipped the sawdust pellet mill with a forced feeder. This secondary feeder laterally delivers lightweight material into the pelleting chamber, ensuring a continuous and stable feed.
Pelletizing System
Because sawdust has a lot of fiber, it can really wear down the core parts of a sawdust pellet making machine. So we built a ring die out of high-strength alloy steel and gave it a carburizing heat treatment. That makes it way more wear-resistant and able to handle higher pressure.
At the discharge end, we put two rollers and a single-sided cutter. The material gets pressed twice before it’s cut. That gives you longer pellet strands and more uniform pellets.
Power Transmission System
Sawdust and other agricultural and forestry raw materials and by-products have coarse and stiff fibers. When pressed into pellets, they place certain demands on the power of core components such as the pressure rollers and feeders. Using ordinary motors may not be able to support the high-intensity operation of the machine, and in severe cases, it may even cause the machine to stop.
RICHI sawdust pelletizers use Siemens motors, with power ranging from 22kW to 250kW. You can choose a model with the appropriate power based on your power requirements. These powerful motors effectively overcome the problem of high operating resistance during pelleting.
Safety Protection System
The RICHI sawdust pellet mill’s body is constructed with heavy-duty thickened steel plates, essentially providing a robust armor for critical components. This significantly reduces vibration during operation, offering stable support for the high-speed internal core parts.
The mechanical overload protection device acts as a safety safeguard, automatically shutting down the machine in case of unexpected blockages or overload. This protects valuable components such as the ring die and pressure rollers, thereby reducing maintenance costs for these critical parts.

Can wet sawdust be directly processed into pellets?

Not recommended. If the sawdust is too wet, it’ll stick to the die and clog the machine. The pellets that do come out won’t form well. Better to use a dryer first and get the moisture down to 13%–18%. That’s more efficient than sun – drying, and the results are much better.That’s why if you’re looking for sawdust pellet machine, RICHI’s models are designed to work seamlessly with a drying step for trouble-free operation.
If the wood chips contain impurities—such as soil, sand, or small nails—will this damage the machine?

There’s a risk. The machine can handle small amounts, but metal and stones will really wear down the ring die and rollers. So in that case, we recommend adding a screening machine to filter out the junk. It’ll extend the life of those core parts.
Do the pellets burn for a long time?

Yes. The pellets from our sawdust pellet machine have few impurities, produce little ash, and leave no hard residue. They’re cleaner than coal and burn longer than firewood. Great for fireplaces, power plants, and similar applications.
