The RICHI poultry feed pellet making machine is built specifically to make feed pellets for all sorts of poultry. It’s one of our best-selling machines, honestly. It works by physically squeezing stuff like corn, soybean meal, wheat bran, and peanut meal into tight little pellets (2–12mm). Compared to loose powder, pellets mean less waste, fewer broken bits, better taste for the birds, and they end up growing more evenly.

Main Components of Poultry Feed Pellet Making Machine
What’s the secret behind RICHI’s poultry feed pellet making machine? Why are the pellets so good? Well, a lot of it comes down to parts you can’t even see. Let me walk you through the main components.
Feeder
This is where raw materials are fed in. When feeding manually, it is easy to feed too much or too little material. We have thoughtfully installed a frequency converter at the feeding port. The advantage of this is that it can reduce the speed and feed material in real time, and the ring die will not be blocked due to instantaneous overload, which can reduce the number of times the machine needs to be stopped for cleaning.
In addition to this, it also protects the main motor. If the feed is excessive, it will increase the current of the main motor, putting pressure on the bearings and gears. The current fluctuation generated by the variable frequency uniform speed feeding is relatively small, which can reduce wear and tear on the transmission components.
Conditioner
There’s a steam inlet on the conditioner. Pump in steam, and it cooks, sterilizes, conditions, and gelatinizes the mash. You can tweak the steam amount with a valve. If you’re making feed for chicks or ducklings, or you just really want top-notch pellets, we can even add more conditioner layers – that way everything gets cooked through and through.
Our conditioner has a larger tube diameter than most conditioners on the market, allowing for greater steam output and providing an extra layer of assurance for the thorough cooking and gelatinization of the raw materials.
Pelletizing Chamber
After being matured and gelatinized in the conditioner, the raw materials immediately enter the pelleting chamber. The pelleting chamber is like a magic space, transforming the paste into uniform, compact strip-shaped pellets. The secret lies in the ring die, pressure rollers, and cutter within the pelleting chamber.
The paste is intensely compressed between two pressure rollers and then extruded through a perforated ring die. Because the die holes are circular, the resulting pellets are naturally cylindrical strips. The cutter then cuts these cylindrical strips to a uniform length.
It’s important to note that the compression ratio between the ring die and the pressure rollers is adjustable, allowing you to choose between denser or looser pellets.
Drive Motor
To ensure the stable operation of our poultry feed pellet mill, we specifically adopted a Siemens motor. You can think of it as the heart of the machine; it powers the rapid rotation of the paddles in the conditioner, promoting the maturation of the raw materials, and provides ample power to the pelleting chamber, allowing key components such as the feeder, pressure rollers, and ring die to work continuously.
Regardless of the type of poultry feed you use, it can easily support the entire machine for processing. You can understand it as: without this motor, the machine would be useless.

Application of Pellet Mills for Young Poultry
Baby birds have soft beaks and underdeveloped digestive systems. They need feed that’s tasty, packed with nutrients, and easy to digest. If pellets are too big, they’ll struggle to eat or get indigestion. So for young poultry, go with small 2–3mm pellets. Lower the compression ratio a bit to keep them nice and soft.
Application of Pellet Mills for Egg-Laying Poultry
Think laying hens, ducks, breeding geese. They’re producing eggs non-stop, so they need high energy and calcium. They also like to peck at individual pellets – if there’s too much powdery feed, they won’t get enough nutrients, and that’ll hurt egg production and shell quality. Bump up the ring die compression ratio and make tight 3–5mm pellets. That cuts down on powdering during transport and feeding, so the feed stays nutritionally whole.
Application of Pellet Mills for Meat Poultry
Broilers, meat ducks, meat geese – they grow fast and eat a lot. And they fight over food. If pellets are too soft, they’ll pick out the good bits and leave the rest, messing up the balanced nutrition and wrecking your feed conversion ratio. So go with a moderate compression ratio and make 4–6mm pellets – firm but not rock hard. This helps their digestion and stops them from being picky eaters.

Plus, waterfowl feed has a lot of coarse fiber, which normally clogs up the machine. So here’s the trick: use a ring die with holes ≥5mm and crank up the compression ratio. That gives you pellets that won’t disintegrate in water – great water resistance. What types of poultry feed is this machine good for?

It makes feed for chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons – you name it. You can run corn, soybean meal, wheat bran, rapeseed meal, cottonseed meal, even trace mineral premixes. The pellets come out more palatable and easier for poultry to digest.
Do I need to control moisture before using the poultry feed pellet making machine?

Yeah, you do. If your raw material is too wet, dry it down to between 13% and 18% – you can use a dryer for that. That way your pellets won’t be too crumbly (if too dry) or clog up the machine (if too wet). By the way, we sell dryers too. Just ask.
How do I add oil (say, 2% soybean oil) to the feed?

If you add more than 1% oil and then pellet directly, the pellets won’t hold their shape. Here’s the trick: pre-mix ≤1% of the oil with the other ingredients in the mixer. Then, after pelleting, spray the remaining oil onto the pellets. We can add a post-spray system to your machine – works like a charm.
What if the ring die gets clogged?

Clogs usually happen because the material is too wet, leftover feed hardens in the holes, or there’s junk mixed in. Try these:
①Take the ring die off and use a special unclogging needle to poke out the stuck feed and dirt.
②Soak it in warm water – time depends on how bad the clog is, but no more than 2 hours. That softens things up, then you can tap it out.
③Fill the clogged holes with a mix of grease and fine sand, then run the machine empty for about 10 minutes.
What if wear parts get damaged?

Ring dies, rollers – they wear out over time. That’s normal.
